Greetings from Flone Initiative!
We are excited to share updates on our activities from July and August, as well as some upcoming events in September.
In July, we held our inception engagement in Nakuru County, during a courtesy visit with the County Executive Secretary, Eng. Michael Kamau, we opened up discussions for potential collaboration areas. Additionally, we conducted a workshop with 32 women in transport who shared their stories of hope, challenges, and areas where they need support. This workshop aimed to map potential collaboration areas and provide a platform for transport stakeholders to make commitments and recommendations for our work in Nakuru County.

In August, we celebrated Victoria Kaloki, one of the trailblazing women in transport. Victoria is Kenya’s first female electric bus driver and has over 13 years of experience in the public transport sector. Her strong will and resilience against adversity are truly inspiring.
We also hosted a Documentary Validation Screening in partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Nairobi. The documentary “Navigating the System” highlights the experiences of persons living with disabilities and offers recommendations to public transport stakeholders on addressing significant accessibility gaps.
