This study investigates the strides made by social enterprises in Kigali, Rwanda, to promote the training and employment of women in the public transportation sector, with a focus on e-mobility. It involves both secondary research and primary data collection through surveys and interviews with key stakeholders in East Africa. The findings reveal significant challenges hindering gender inclusivity initiatives, such as vague criteria for selecting trainees, insufficient training capacities of partnering institutions, limited job opportunities, gender-based harassment, coordination issues among stakeholders, and difficulties accessing training venues due to long distances. The study aims to provide insights for improving gender mainstreaming, particularly in the e-mobility sector, and to guide future program implementations and evaluations by organizations and policymakers in Rwanda.
