Freedom of movement is a human right. However, threats of sexual harassment and assault, inaccessible roads and vehicles, and environmental hazards are some barriers to transportation that women and other vulnerable road users face daily. This Flone’s annual signature event brings together various stakeholders to discuss critical issues and intervention towards realisation of inclusive mobility. 2020 Annual Conference was organized by Flone Initiative and its partner and sponsors
The Third Annual Women in Transport African Conference, titled ‘Paving the Way for a More Inclusive and Equitable Public Transport System in Africa’, sought to reiterate the importance of creating a more inclusive public transport system in Africa. The idea is to take stock of what has been accomplished and explore translating research into practice.
The conference seeks to bridge the gap between research and policy initiatives on urban planning, public safety and gender-based violence issues and the real-world challenges facing women currently working in the transportation sector.
