In 2019, Flone Initiative accomplished significant milestones:
Firstly, we successfully organized and hosted the Women in Transportation (WIT) conference for the second time, this year in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event witnessed a notable increase in the number of delegates, signifying growing interest and participation.
The digital campaign surrounding “Msupa wa Nganya,” the movie, sparked widespread discussions on gender roles and celebrated the contributions of women in the transport sector in Kenya.
Expanding our reach, we initiated interventions in Mombasa County, beginning with a comprehensive baseline assessment. This effort culminated in the establishment of a WIT chapter and fostered enhanced engagement with stakeholders, including the Mombasa County Government and the Kenya Ferry Services.
A significant achievement was realized through the implementation of the Gender Sensitive Minibus toolkit within two PSV SACCOs in Nairobi County. This initiative led to the development and adoption of sexual harassment policies and customer service charters, contributing to safer and more respectful transport environments.
Additionally, our marketing and communication strategies received a boost with the redesign and launch of our website. We ensured regular updates to our partners through monthly newsletters, enhancing transparency and collaboration within our network.
