2017 was a remarkable year for Flone Initiative. All the objectives set at the outset of the year were not only met but exceeded. This success is attributed to the support of God, the dedicated Flone team, and the generous financial backing from our donors, the Global Fund for Women.
We are immensely grateful for the collaboration with other organizations such as ITF, ITDP, NGEC, and Public Transport SACCOs like Kani, Kayoline, Indimanje, and Embasava, among others.
During 2017, Flone Initiative focused on two primary programs: Usalama Wa Uma and Women in Transport (WIT). Despite facing various challenges, these programs achieved significant milestones.
The completion of the Violence Against Girls and Women (VAGW) Baseline Survey shed light on grave violations of women’s rights still prevalent in Kenya. Incidents of harassment in public spaces persist, as evidenced by the increased reports on the Ushahidi Platform.
The following is a comprehensive report detailing all activities implemented by Flone Initiative in 2017, including successes, challenges, lessons learned, and our organizational plans for the future.
